McHenry, MD – Garrett College’s Continuing Education and Workforce Development will be offering a course, Equine Massage, at the Northern Outreach Center in Grantville. The course is slated for Thursday, March 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.

This course presents equine anatomy and physiology, safety issues for both the horse and the therapist, how s/he uses stretches to benefit the horse, and how to s/he uses attention when touching horses. Topics include the following: how horses respond to massage, how to manage muscle soreness and exertion in horses, important equine anatomical structures and muscles, how to use compression, direct pressure, and fascial stretching on a horse.

This course is being taught by Debbie Daniels. She is a certified animal massage therapist, as well as a Certified Pet First Aid and CPR Responder. She is a member of the International Association of Animal Massage and Bodywork and holds certification in canine and equine massage.
