More About Professional Basketball Trainers at Courtside by dlux

⛹️🏀 At Courtside we are extremely proud of the pedigree of our trainers, we look for trainers who have vast experience in the game, not only teaching it but playing it as well, and we believe we have the best team of trainers in the Region to help your son or daughter get better so they can be great.

Our head trainer is Region born and bred, Mike Miklusak, he played high school ball at Lake Central, collegiately at Western Illinois and in Europe professionally.

Mike’s goal with each player he instructs at Courtside is “to help players in The Region chase their dreams by giving them the tools necessary to reach the next level and show them that they can do anything they put their mind to.”

In High School he played alongside Glenn Robinson III (Michigan/NBA) and Tyler Wideman (Butler). He helped lead his team to a Sectional Championship in 2012, where he had 16 points against Munster in the semifinals to advance to the championship game. During the 2011-12 season he was named Most Improved. In his senior campaign, he averaged 12 points and 5.1 rebounds. He was named Honorable Mention All-State, Northwest Indiana All-Area Second Team, Duneland Athletic All-Conference Team and was named MVP of the Indianapolis Play-by-Play Classic.

Through his hard work in High School and continual improvement, he earned a Division I scholarship to Western Illinois University where he played in 90 games over the course of his 4-year career. In his Freshman year, he was named to the Don Haskins Sun Bowl Classic All-Tournament team at UTEP. In his Sophomore year, he played in 15 games and started in 11 of them before tearing his PCL, ending his season. As a Junior, he was 2nd in the entire Summit League in 3-point field goal percentage, notching an impressive 45.6%. During his Senior year, Mike played in 23 games and started in 21 of them. He averaged 35.1 minutes per game, 15.5 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game. He recorded 9 double-double’s, shot 41.5% from beyond the arch and he was 8th in the nation in Defensive Rebounds per game. He recorded his career high 31 points during Senior Night, shooting 11-17 from the field.

Upon graduation in 2017, Mike continued his career in Europe where he played for one of the top teams in the Netherlands, Den Bosch New Heroes. He helped his team to a 24-8 record, starting all 32 games. He averaged 11.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He shot a remarkable 39.7% (78-196) from the 3-point line which earned him the Kees Akerboom Award, recognizing the best 3-point shooter in the Dutch Basketball League. After his rookie season, he was offered a contract to play in France’s Pro-B League for Gries Oberhoffen. He played for 3 months before deciding to return home to his family due to injury/personal reasons. Before returning home, Mike recorded a double-double in a French Cup game notching 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists, leading his team to a 74-70 victory.

Mike has plenty to be personally proud of through his own experiences in the game, but now looks to train the next generation of players to carry on the strong, yet under appreciated, tradition of basketball in Northwest Indiana.

More About this Event Poster: Courtside by dlux

Basketball is the greatest game in the world, and I count myself as one of many who have experienced not only how amazing it is, but what it can offer to you in return. It has instilled numerous life lessons over the years and created memorable experiences while building countless relationships that have shaped my life. I have been fortunate enough over the years to play in High School at Merrillville, collegiately at Northern Illinois and as a professional in the European circuit. From there I was able to expand my love for the game by coaching at Merrillville High School for over 10 years and many youth programs along the way as well.

Along my journey, a deep feeling of wanting to share and pass along what I have learned from the game of basketball over the years was born in me. I have always been frustrated by the lack of opportunity for young players to have access to the game of basketball as well as players like themselves who were looking to improve. So, after many years of planning, I am extremely excited to share with you that my dream of opening a basketball facility is in the final stages of coming to life with the opening of Courtside by dlux.

You might be asking, “what is Courtside?” Well let me tell you….

An old school gym that provides top level, personalized instruction to engage players combined with the new school technology training tools to take them to the next level.

A team of experienced basketball instructors that will provide access, oversight and specific measurables to help boys and girls of all ages improve their ball handling, shooting skills and overall understanding of the game.

We will offer skills camps and developmental leagues geared towards applying their improved skills with competitions in game formats

GET BETTER. BE GREAT.

At the heart of who we are, there will always be two simple concepts. “Get Better. Be Great.” We want to inspire players to embrace the everyday grind of setting goals, embracing a challenging journey and always striving to get better, and be great. No matter how long someone plays the game, these core values will have a lasting impact.

In preparation for our Grand Opening, and to ensure you’re a part of our program from the start, please make sure to to sign up for all the latest in program announcements. Please share this information with anyone you feel might be interested as well. Shortly we will be making some formal announcements about initial membership discounts, program plans, individual skills training and a 3v3 Development Camp and League.

Thank you for your interest, I look forward to seeing you at Courtside!
