FEAST HOURS:
Thursday, August 15 – Noon to 11 pm (Solemn Mass at 10 am/Procession following Mass)
Friday, August 16 – 6 pm to Midnight
Saturday, August 17 – Noon to Midnight
Sunday, August 18 — Noon to 11pm

Feast of the Assumption on August 15th: A solemn Mass celebrating the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15th at Holy Rosary Church. The procession, which is an extension of our prayer during the Mass, begins at Holy Rosary Church (At approximately 11:15 a.m.) and continues throughout the entire Little Italy neighborhood before concluding at Holy Rosary Church (at approximately 12:45 p.m.).

PROCESSION ROUTE on August 15th: (Beginning at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, August 15th)

Begins at Holy Rosary Church and turns right onto E. 120th Street — continues to the end of E. 120th and makes a right onto Coltman Road. — Makes a left onto Mayfield Road and goes up the hill – and makes a left onto E. 124th Street — Left onto Alexander Ct, left onto E. 123rdStreet. Right onto Mayfield Road again, then left on Murray Hill Road, right on Cornell Road, right on Random Road, Right on Paul Ave, Right on Murray Hill again – left onto Fairview Ave which turns into E. 125th Street, then a final left onto Mayfield Road and down to the church.

HOLY DAY, WEEKDAY, AND WEEKEND MASSES :

– Thursday, August 15:

Mass at 8 am

Solemn Mass at 10 am (followed by procession at approximately 11:15 am)

Mass at Noon

Mass at 8 pm

– Friday, August 16: 12:15 pm
– Saturday, August 17: Vigil Mass for Sunday at 5:00 p.m.

– Sunday, August 18: 8:30 am; 11 am and 8 pm (Followed by night procession and prayer service beginning at approximately 9:30 pm)

SHRINE AND RELIGIOUS GOODS:
A shrine in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located on the Coltman Road side of the Church. The Rosary is prayed each evening at 6:00 p.m. and votive candles are available and prayer requests may be written throughout the Feast. Adjacent to this is a Religious Goods Stand offering statutes, medals, rosaries, books, prayer cards and other devotional articles for sale.
Additionally, a Culture of Life Stand is located in front of the church and offers free materials relating to the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.

CAVATELLI DINNER: Holy Rosary hosts a sit-down cavatelli dinner after the procession on August 15th — from Noon to 3:30 in the air-conditioned hall in the lower level of the church. Only $8 for adults and $5 for children for cavatelli, meatball, salad, bread/butter, beverage & cake.

HOLY ROSARY STANDS & RIDES: The stands which benefit the Church are located on the Holy Rosary grounds and include: the carnival rides, a variety of Italian foods including cavatelli & meatballs, sausage/pepper/onion sandwich, pizza, pizza and sausage, fried mozzarella, chicken tenders, fried ravioli, tiramisu, Italian ice, fried dough, Pepsi products, beer, wine, prosecco (the bar area is in the Church parking lot – near the carnival rides). There is also a Dolceria and Café featuring espresso, cappuccino, lattes, etc., plus home-made pizzelles, Italian cookies and more.

The carnival rides are located in the church parking lot located behind the church and include a ferris wheel, scrambler, magic carpet ride and various other children’s rides and games.

EVENING PROCESSION on August 18: The Feast closes with an evening procession on Sunday, August 18 th following the 8 pm Mass — and begins at Holy Rosary Church at 9:30 p.m. This procession heads up Mayfield Road to E. 123 rd street and returns down Mayfield Road to the Church, followed by a closing prayer service.

Fireworks will follow at approximately 10:00 p.m. in Tony Brush Park.

There will be additional vendors on the street selling roasted nuts, kettle corn, artichokes, lemonade, frozen yogurt, elephant ears, clams, funnel cakes and more! Also there will be Italian musical entertainment on the street – singers, choral group, and dancers.

NOTE: Mayfield Road will be CLOSED to vehicular traffic during the Feast hours – beginning approximately one hour prior to the start times listed above. It will be opened about one hour after the Feast closes each night.
