Sashiko Embroidery Class - The Inventor Center

More About Sashiko Embroidery Class - The Inventor Center

Explore the ancient Japanese art of Sashiko. Sashiko is a type of Japanese embroidery similar to a running stitch. Sashiko can be used as an embellishment on quilts, bags or garments. It can also be used for quilt blocks. You will learn the 6 basics to create just about any pattern, modern or traditional.

Our Instructor: John Plutchak is from Kingsport, Tennessee. He has been quilting for more 20 years, prefers machine quilting but excels at doing Sashiko by hand and adding it to his quilts. He teaches at regional quilt guilds, quilt shops, and the Kingsport Senior Center. John has been a participant in five consecutive biennial juried men’s exhibits at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden, Colorado. John is a certified Eleanor Burns “Quilt in a Day” instructor.

Supplies to Bring: Thread Scissors (thread, needles, needle threader, fabric for a practice piece, fabric with a design to work will be provided. You will have some choice of colors and designs.)

Class Fee: $20 (we can only accept cash at this time)
