More About Langel's Pizza- Highland

Langel’s Pizzeria is a well-known establishment in downtown Highland. It has been a popular hotspot which is known just as much for its events hosted there as it is for their famous food. Inside the restaurant, you will find many amenities to suit your needs. We have a large Sports Bar, fully equipped with 40 HD TV's. Along with our original family dining area, we have a modern outdoor Café, which provides amazing open-air seating during those breezy summer months. It is also fully heated, and enclosed during our blistery winter months. Langel’s Pizzeria also provides a variety of banquet & catering solutions. We offer two Banquet Facilities and off-premise Catering.

Langel’s Pizzeria was founded in the year 1979 by Rodney D. Langel. At the age of 22, he decided to begin his journey into the restaurant business. It all began with a small pizza place in St. John, Indiana. At that time, Rodney managed to satisfy his customers with tasty pizzas, even though he did it all with only a small oven, 2-door cooler, and a few tables and chairs. With a little help from his parents, Lillian and Eugene Langel, he kept the place running smoothly.

After two years, Rodney moved to Schererville, and shortly thereafter purchased the store in downtown Highland, Rodney’s hometown. Here at our Highland location, what was known as Langel’s Pizza, existed as just the little dining room extending to the back of the kitchen area. Back then, Langel’s Pizzeria consisted of only 1 cook, 1 server/phone person, and 1 delivery driver. As business grew, so did the restaurant as well as our team of employees.

As time went on, we grew bigger and bigger. In 1994, we were able to expand and begin to establish ourselves as a mainstay in the Calumet Region. With this space, Rodney’s Grill and Sports Bar was added on, along with two banquet facilities, and much needed extra space.

Due to our loyal customer base around the Calumet region, we have grown so much throughout the years. Langel's Pizza is proud to have over 70 great people on our staff. The year 2019 celebrates the 40th Anniversary! We are very proud to say that we are still family owned and operated! Rodney is glad to see that his children, Nicholette and Adam Langel, took the same serious interest he took 40 years ago, and is going to keep the business going for many years to come.
