More About Susquehanna Folk Festival

The Susquehanna Folk Festival is an annual two-day music, dance, storytelling, and craft festival held on the last weekend in July at beautiful Roundtop Mountain Resort in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania (Harrisburg/York area). The festival showcases a variety of acoustic music styles including Celtic, bluegrass, old-time, blues, New England contra, and swing. The Susquehanna Folk Festival presents nationally and internationally touring artists as well as regional and local talent. The festival is handicapped accessible and is held rain or shine as all of the stages are indoors or under tents.

In addition to performances on several stages, activities also include dancing (contras, squares and other styles), family-oriented crafts and kids concerts, workshops, jamming, and storytelling. There will be a wide selection of crafts for sale and many vendors will be demonstrating their art. Food will be available on site and a selection of craft beer and wine from local wineries will be available in the evenings.

Headliners for this year’s festival include the legendary David Bromberg, four-time Grammy Award winner David Holt, the great blueswoman Rory Block, amazing Texas Swing fiddlers and singers The Quebe Sisters, local favorites Kevin Neidig,Henry Koretzsky, Ken Gehret, and Bruce Campbell, as well as more to be announced. A Saturday evening contra/square dance will be held featuring the New England contra dance sounds of Pete’s Posse with calling by the renowned caller Kathy Anderson.

The Susquehanna Folk Festival is located in South Central Pennsylvania between the cities of York and Harrisburg. If you are visiting from afar and need lodging, the festival is conveniently located approximately 14 miles from a number of modestly priced hotels and just six miles from Gifford Pinchot State Park which has camping, boating, swimming, and other amenities. There is no camping or housing offered on the festival site.

The festival is produced by the Susquehanna Folk Music Society, an arts organization that has presented concerts, dances, workshops, coffeehouses, and jams in Harrisburg, York, and Lancaster for 30 years. Major funding comes from the York County Convention and Visitors Bureau through a tourism grant. 2018 is the inaugural year of the festival.

Whether you are a folk music enthusiast, dancer, craft lover, storyteller, or someone just looking for a weekend adventure in beautiful York County, we welcome you to the Susquehanna Folk Festival! We look forward to your being with us.
