More About See Wild Mustangs at the Extreme Mustang Makeover in Lexington, Kentucky

Come watch wild mustangs and riders perform amazing feats during the Extreme Mustang Makeover in Lexington, Kentucky, June 21-23, 2018. Cheer on competitors during freestyle performances, and have the opportunity to take one home as your own. You won’t want to miss the chance to see these amazing animals’ intelligence and beauty!

Created by the Mustang Heritage Foundation (MHF) in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wild Horse & Burro Program, the program involves a 100-day competition that challenges trainers to gently saddle train wild mustangs to ready them for competition. Through a series of classes and a Top 10 finals competition, trainers display the mustangs’ skills and demeanor, followed by a bidding process where spectators can purchase one as their own.

This event will also host a Youth & Mustang competition for youth trainers, ages 8-17, who are eligible to adopt a 12-24 month old mustang to train and compete within this in-hand competition.

While you’re there, stop by the America’s Mustang Experience, where you can learn about mustangs and celebrate this symbol of the American spirit in a 40-foot interactive trailer with videos and information about the public lands where they live. The highlight of the experience is a virtual reality station, where you’ll come face-to-face with wild mustangs to see, hear and experience their habits on the range.

All events throughout the weekend are free except for the freestyle finals performance on Saturday, June 23. Tickets may be purchased in advance or on-site. All seats are general admission and children 5 years and under are free. Visit click for details to learn more.
