More About GC’s summer session provides online, on campus course offerings

Registration now underway for Summer session that begins June 12th

McHenry, MD – Garrett College is gearing up for a wide variety of courses to be offered during summer session. Summer courses at Garrett begin on June 12th and will end on August 13th.
A total of 23 courses are being offered this summer, with 17 of these courses being online. The remaining six courses will be held on the College’s main McHenry campus. All courses are open to current and future Garrett College students as well as students that attend other institutions and that may be “home” for the summer.
“Summer session courses at the College provide an excellent opportunity for students to complete credits towards their degree at Garrett College,” stated Mike Tumbarello, GC’s director of enrollment management. “They also provide a great opportunity for non-Garrett College students to very cost-effectively take general education requirements or other courses while home for the summer.”
Of the 17 courses available online this summer, 12 fulfill and satisfy general education requirements (GER) at Garrett and many other institutions. These courses include: art appreciation, principles of biology, human biology & the environment, introduction to computers, introduction to cybersecurity, composition I – expository writing, composition II – introduction to literature, college algebra, human growth & development, death & bereavement, principles of sociology, and introduction to communication.
Classes available on campus are integrated reading & writing, introductory algebra, intermediate algebra, group fitness I and II, and camp administration.
Major specific core courses such as business, management, and a practicum internship are being offered online as well.
Drugs & human behavior (PSY 286), serves as a pre-requisite for the College’s newest program, an Associate in Applied Science degree (A.A.S.) in Addictions Counseling. Those who are interested in beginning the Addictions Counseling program in the fall 2019 semester, must enroll in PSY 286 (available online only) in the summer to complete the pre-requisite.
