More About Introduction to Wilderness Survival slated at Garrett College

McHenry, MD – Garrett College Continuing Education and Workforce Development is offering a course, Introduction to Wilderness Survival, at the college’s main campus in McHenry. The course is scheduled on Tuesdays, April 17 and 24, from 5:30 to 8:45 pm.

This class is great for beginners or for those of you wanting to gain more knowledge about bush craft, and will cover the basics to wilderness survival. Attitude, shelter, water, fire, and food will be some of the things we will discuss in the class and then, for the other half of class, participants will venture outside to see an example of shelter construction of a debri-hut, a friction fire demonstration, examples of water procurement, primitive trap examples and demonstrations, and some edible wild plants with high nutritional value! We will also discuss great go-to-sources for wilderness survival information.

The instructor for this course is Chris Hull who has an associate’s degree in natural resources and wildlife technology. He has several years of experience instructing and leading guided hikes and programs dealing with wilderness survival, edible and medicinal wild plants, and many other nature-oriented programs.
