Day at Petersen Farm

Day at Petersen Farm

More About Day at Petersen Farm

Everyone is invited to the City of McHenry’s annual Day at Petersen Farm celebration on Sunday, June 28, at 4112 McCullom Lake Road, one mile West of Route 31. This year visitors will enjoy old fashioned country fair activities, with farm animals, hayrides and children’s games. The City of McHenry Landmark Commission and the McHenry County Farm Bureau continue to co-host the annual event now in it’s eighth year!

Cheryl Niemo and the Down Home Boys will provide country music. There will be crafts, textile demonstrations, a farm garden and farm equipment displays. The traveling "Windy City Magician" is returning to amaze the crowd.

Children will learn to wash clothes using an old wringer washer. There will be balloon art and face painting. The farmhouse main floor and garage will be open for tours, with period furniture and kitchen equipment on display. McHenry's City Council members will be introduced, along with the 2015 "Miss McHenry" and her Court.

The Farm will open at 10:00 a.m. Entertainment begins at 10:00 a.m. and activities conclude at 4:00 p.m. Local merchants will sell refreshments. Parking and admission are free.

Events include hay Rides, Farm Animals, Crafts, Exhibits, Victory Garden, Magician, Cow Milking, Face Painting, and Food Vendors!

The Farm was formed in 1842 and acquired from the Colby and Petersen families by the City of McHenry for preservation of our agricultural heritage. With its outbuildings and oak savannah, it will be developed as an agricultural museum and resource center. It will promote tourism within our area and preserve the flavor of life in McHenry County in the 19th and early 20th Centuries. The Colby-Petersen Farm Foundation has been established to assist in maintaining and developing the property.

The City of McHenry Landmark Commission supports development of the Farm and also helps to enforce the historic preservation ordinance through education, guidance and technical assistance to building restoration efforts by McHenry property owners.

More About this Event Poster: Town Planner of Northern Illinois

Rather than us tell you how good we are, here are some clients who will share with you how we help them:

The Fox Hole Pizza in McHenry had to close its doors in January of 2014for six months due to a fire in the building over the restaurant. In July when they reopened the owner, Lianna, said "The coupons were coming in when the calendar first came out. Then the fire hit. Costs to reopen were high and I had no funds for any advertising but when we reopened the calendar coupons started bringing in the people as our advertising is out there ALL YEAR - Every Day in your calendar!"

Matt Martinez with State Farm has been with us going on 5 years and he tells us that not only has he gotten business but people come up and recognize him ALL the time. To punctuate that he related a story of one of his contractors meeting him after three years only to say "I feel like I already know you as I see your picture hanging on the wall of all the homes I go into."

Patrick, the manager at Brunch Cafe mentioned to me in December that they were getting a rush of coupons what with people trying to use them before the end of the year. We discussed how amazing it is that a product can keep an ad/coupon in front of people for a whole year...most get thrown or misplaced within days and are out of sight out of mind; but not the calendar they are there EVERY day for people to see.

We're Town Planner and we can put you On Display Every Day both Online and In Print. Our Print is not disposable but rather it is displayable - for a year at a time!
