More About Visit The Lubeznik Center for the Arts

In 1975, John G. Blank purchased a vacant library building to provide a home for Michigan City’s new Center for the Arts. In 1978, this building officially became the John G. Blank Art Center, which was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization.

In 2002, Jack and Shirley Lubeznik donated an office building at 101 W. 2nd Street. The center was then renamed as the Jack & Shirley Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA). Over time, extensive renovations were completed to create a welcoming, modern facility featuring two classrooms, three world class gallery spaces, a reception area and a gallery shop.

Today, LCA serves as a vibrant showcase for exhibitions and a vital hub for the community. We feature three major exhibitions per year with corresponding educational programming, as well as a wide variety of classes for children and adults. Approximately 1,800 children annually enjoy educational tours and onsite artmaking at LCA, while many more receive visual, literacy-based and performance art instruction through the outreach programs we offer in collaboration with area after school programs.
