More About Chalk It Up! - Ages 12 - 16 - with Katie Walters

This art camp will be all about chalk! We will learn how to blend chalk pastels on a small scale, and then take it to the big scale! First we will learn the basics of chalk and how to draw with the grid method in order to make their drawings life size! We will be doing our final piece as street artists, weather permitting! This class will be messy and will involve bending down and working on the ground for the street method portion of the class. Please dress to make a mess and be ready to chalk it up! If weather permits chalking outside please bring a hat, water bottle/ Gatorade, and sunscreen along with a healthy snack to keep our energy up!

The first day of the camp ( Monday, July 18) the class will be held at the Maple Grove Arts Center as students learn the basics of chalk and brainstorm ideas. July 19 - 21 (Tuesday-Thursday) the camp will be held at the Lions Pavilion, Maple Grove right next to the Maple Grove Community Center, ice arena entrance, with social distancing practiced. On the Final Day, Thursday July 21st , feel free to come at the end of class (10:30) to see your students' final piece and take pictures with your street artist! Please adhere to social distancing and mask mandates as well. We are so excited to chalk it up and do art this summer!

Please dress to make a mess!

Supplies will be provided (Professional artist grade chalks - same brand that the artists use at major chalking events)
