More About Billy Graham Library

The 40,000-square-foot Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, N.C. – Billy Graham’s hometown – chronicles the life and ministry of the world-famous evangelist. Often referred to as an “ongoing Crusade,” the Library’s purpose is to continue the 60-year legacy of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to deliver the simple message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The main facility houses six exhibits, four galleries and two theaters covering the span of Graham’s lifetime work and the exciting ministry of the BGEA today.

The highlight of the Billy Graham experience at the Library is “The Journey of Faith” tour, which features dynamic video presentations and fascinating displays covering important events and developments in Mr. Graham’s ministry, including: the 1949 Crusade in Los Angeles that thrust Mr. Graham onto the national scene; his relationship with his late wife Ruth Bell Graham; his pioneering use of the media to share the Gospel; his relationship with numerous American presidents; his preaching behind the “Iron Curtain” in communist territory during the Cold War; and more.

In addition to permanent displays, the Library occasionally features special exhibits highlighting important figures in Mr. Graham’s life. Past exhibits have featured soloists Ethel Waters and George Beverly Shea, music director and song leader Cliff Barrows and Ruth Bell Graham. Christmas at the Library, which runs most of the month of December, is always a highlight of the year, featuring a live Nativity, horse-drawn carriage rides, carolers, storytelling for children and more.

Visitors also have the opportunity to visit Ruth’s gravesite and tour Billy Graham’s boyhood home, built by his father, Frank Graham, in the 1920s, which has been carefully restored.
