More About Crooked River Festival Hale Farm & Village

Discover the incredible history of the Crooked River, and its ever-changing communities from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Living history demonstrations, hands-on activities, period collections highlights, and special presentations will allow guests to explore the many experiences that Indigenous, European, and diverse early American people encountered in the Cuyahoga River Valley of the time. Step back into a unique period of history, and immerse yourself in storytelling, folk music, and artisan traditions that both defined and connected peoples.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
-Cultural Educators from federally-recognized tribal nations with historic connections to the Cuyahoga Valley sharing traditions and histories.
-Living history demonstrations and special presentations immersing guests in the early 19th century history and daily life of the Cuyahoga River Valley.
-WRHS Collections highlights featuring War of 1812 and Commodore Perry-related items.
-Hands-on activities and entertainment that bring to life historic skills, including axe throwing and period music.
Timed presentations, including (Times and Details to Come):
-Rebecca Jones Macko, Interpretive Park Ranger of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park–presenting on the history of the Ohio Erie Canal and Akron.
-Great Lakes Brewing Company brings their Hop College to Hale Farm, featuring Commodore Perry IPA!
-Johnny Appleseed, presented by Ray McNeice, will share early Ohio stories.
-Travis Henline, Director of Hale Farm & Village will explore the Native presence at the Hale Farm site through the late 18th and early 19th century.
