More About Leap into Rain Gardens

Leap into Rain Gardens
Saturday, February 29, Aurora, 11am, $15, Boxed lunch: $10

Rain gardens transform small damp areas of your yard into garden habitats for toads, pollinators and butterflies. Whether you already have a low area that captures rainwater or want to create one, we'll discuss options.

In the first half of the class we'll talk about how to design the space and the advantages of keeping rainwater local. In the second half we'll delve into plant choices for both beauty and function.

Class fee includes a $10 coupon for you to use this spring! Pre-registration required. Call 630.355.4000.

More About this Event Poster: The Growing Place Garden Center

Both Growing Place locations are filled with inspirational gardens, vast selections of plants, knowledgeable staff and entertaining and educational events for adults and kids! Shop in a beautiful garden setting for trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, roses, groundcovers, herbs, vegetables, seeds, bulbs, natives and containers. Explore our gift shop to discover thoughtful gifts, miniatures and unique garden accents. Once you find us you’ll be back again and again.

Started from bare ground in 1989, it has grown into what is now a garden oasis for all who visit. The trees are maturing and the gardens are thriving. Our gift shop is located in a historical landmark — a 19th-Century farm house that was moved to the property in 2000. Special attention is given to children with play areas and child-friendly gardens to help them develop an appreciation for nature.

Our 18-acre Aurora location is also home to our production facilities where we grow most of our perennials, annuals, herbs, vegetable, plants and mums for both locations — making our plants very locally grown!

The Aurora garden center is located on Montgomery Road, 2 blocks north of Ogden Avenue and 10 minutes west of the Westfield Fox Valley Mall. If you’re coming from the west, the Aurora location is 5 minutes from the Route 30 and Ogden Avenue intersection.
