TRICK RIDERS, DRILL TEAMS AND HORSES GALORE AT FALL FESTIVAL AT DANADA OCT. 13

Join a celebration of the horse and fall season at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Fall Festival at Danada Sunday, Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Danada Equestrian Center, 3S507 Naperville Road in Wheaton.

Visitors can see trick and bareback riding by Midwest Renegades, demonstrations of Arabian horse versatility, Saddlebreds, miniature-horse drill teams and other riding styles and breeds from guest performers throughout the day.

Visitors can meet and buy pieces from Danada’s own Nick the Painting Horse; take wagon rides through the autumn woods; tour the barn that once housed Kentucky Derby winner Lucky Debonair; and learn about horse care, grooming, and tack. Children can take pony rides, paint pumpkins, and create and decorate paper hobbyhorses to ride in the main arena.

“The Fall Festival at Danada celebrates the relationship between the domestic horse and skilled rider for both pleasure and sport,” said Wayne Zaininger, the center’s manager. “It also showcases a variety of breeds and riding disciplines and remains one of the only equestrian shows of its kind in DuPage County.”

The Forest Preserve District’s largest event, Fall Festival at Danada draws nearly 8,000 visitors each year and takes place rain or shine. Admission and parking are free. Food and beverages are available for purchase, and some activities have small fees (cash preferred). Questions? Call 630-668-6012.

Festivalgoers can also visit the Danada House, former home to Dan and Ada Rice, to view the Friends of Danada’s Nature Art and Photo Show, a juried competition featuring local artists.
