More About Two designLab Camps-Animation/VR & Take It Apart (5th-8th Gr.)

During the week of July 15-19, St. Luke’s designLab Camp is offering two great camps for rising 5th-8th grade* children: Animation/Virtual Reality (morning) and Take It Apart (afternoon). Participants can attend one camp...or both! (Lunch is included for campers taking both sessions.)

Animation/Virtual Reality Camp

July 15-19

9:00am-12:00pm

Cost: $400

Campers will explore the various ways that animation has changed over time. They will have the opportunity to create paper flip books, zoetropes, stop-motion animations, holograms, and virtual reality spaces. No prior experience is necessary though an interest in drawing is helpful.

Take It Apart Camp

July 15-19

12:30-3:30pm

COST: $350

(Lunch is included for campers taking any Summer at St. Luke's morning session on the same day.)

In this hands-on week of exploration, campers will open up small electronics such as toy trains and old telephones to see what is inside. Reverse engineering is a fun way for students to identify parts of a circuit, understand how they function, and harvest parts for building new circuits. Soldering and tinkering will be explored in this fun and satisfying dismantling of everyday things.

Both camps will be led by St. Luke's designLab faculty member Kimberly Gerardi and take place in the school's unparalleled designLab—a 3,500 square foot space dedicated to makers and those who’ve not yet discovered their limitless creative abilities. designLab features nine 3D printers, a CO2 laser cutter, small and large CNC routers, and a brand new, fully-stocked woodshop.

Learn more about these designLab camps and register today: Summer at St. Luke's. Space is limited.
