More About Newtown Lions Duck Race & Sandy Hook, CT Town Festival

The Great Pootatuck Duck Race will be held on Saturday, May 26th in Sandy Hook, CT. The year's event is sponsored by the Newtown Lions Club, Newtown Savings Bank, and Norcom's Mortgage Force to benefit the many Lions community projects.

The event runs from 10 am until 2:30 pm at which time the plastic ducks will be sent on their way down the Pootatuck river. The first 20 ducks to cross the finish line will win prizes that total over $4,800. The top prize is a cash prize of $2,000.

This year's event promises plenty of family fun: two bounce houses and a slide, face painting, duck race souvenirs for kids, as well as entertainment, exhibitors, and food for all ages.

Duck Race tickets are being sold for $5 each at a number of businesses in Newtown and Sandy Hook and the Newtown Lions will sell tickets outside a number of local Newtown establishments during April and May. Tickets will also be on sale at the May 26th event.
