Uncial Calligraphy at Noblesville Library

More About Uncial Calligraphy at Noblesville Library

In this class for beginners, you will learn how to form Uncial calligraphy letters. Uncial calligraphy is an ancient form of calligraphy characterized by simple, rounded strokes. It apparently originated in the 2nd century AD with the growing use of parchment and vellum as writing surfaces. Most of the works of Latin literature for more than 500 years were copied in this hand.

Paper, pen, guide sheet, and exemplar are provided, free of charge. All instructional materials are yours to keep. The class will be taught by Julia Fish Thompson, the current president of the Calligraphy Guild of Indiana. Julia has been an ardent calligraphy lover for over 30 years and works out of her home studio in Zionsville. You must be 18 or over to register. Only those individuals who are registered will be allowed in the classroom during the class.

Registration is required. Free!
