More About THE ULTIMATE ROBIN WILLIAMS TRIBUTE starring Roger Kabler

Also featuring Marc Price (Skippy from Family Ties)

What Roger Kabler does is not an impression. That word isn’t sufficient to describe what he does. For an hour or so on stage, he becomes Robin Williams.

More than three years have passed since the mercurial comic legend’s suicide, but Kabler resurrects Williams’ look, his voice, his manic energy, for an hour at a time on stage in The Ultimate Robin Williams Tribute Experience.

“You don’t have any idea how difficult it is to do this act,” Kabler said in a recent phone interview. “It’s mentally and physically exhausting. And I feel like Robin is there saying, ‘Do you have any idea how hard it is to come back to life? Especially in your body?’

“My mission is to bring his mission back to life. I think he was on a peacekeeping mission. He was a great soul, like the Dalai Lama. He saw cracking you up as a way of releasing our best sides.”

-Mike Holtzclaw, Contact Reporter, Daily Press

In addition to playing Skippy on Family Ties, Price also played Eddie ‘Ragman’ Weinbauer in the 1986 film Trick or Treat. Price appeared with Kevin Dillon in the 1988 action-adventure film The Rescue. He then hosted the game show Teen Win, Lose or Draw on The Disney Channel (1989–92). While hosting the game show, Price played the young American tourist calling himself Michael J. Fox in Killer Tomatoes Eat France in 1991 with John Astin, Angela Visser and Steve Lundquist.

As a stand-up comedian, Price draws heavily on his experiences of growing up in Hollywood. He appeared on Last Comic Standing and for over 15 years, was a regular performer at Harrah’s in Las Vegas while simultaneously working as a producer in Hollywood. During the rest of the 2000s onward, he has predominantly acted as writer/producer for cable television networks such as Disney Channel, Food Network, Animal Planet, GSN, Showtime, as well as producing the TBS game show Midnight Money Madness. In September 2013, Price began appearing occasionally on Fox Sports Live with Jay and Dan on Fox Sports.

More About this Event Poster: Alabama Theatre

Country music stars ALABAMA had a desire to return to their musical roots in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where they honed their impressive three-part harmonies while playing for tips at The Bowery, a local nightclub. Alabama wanted to bring their unique perspective to the rising entertainment industry on the Grand Strand and the Alabama Theatre was born.

The 1993 opening of the Alabama Theatre was covered by major media including CBS Morning Show, NBC Nightly News, Good Morning America, CMT, TNN and countless national and regional publications. Alabama Theatre was even a question on the popular game show Jeopardy.

Gaylord Entertainment was brought on board to collaborate in writing, directing and producing a nightly show incorporating many musical genres. Gaylord Entertainment, then owner of the Grand Ole Opry, Opryland USA Theme Park, Opryland Hotels, TNN & CMT, was no stranger to big time show business and brought a talented team from Nashville, Las Vegas and Los Angeles to write, choreograph, costume and produce the first season’s shows called American Pride and Christmas in Dixie.

Turn the page to 2017 and the Alabama Theatre remains at the forefront of entertainment venues on the East Coast with Gaylord Entertainment continuing to produce their signature shows ONE The Show and The South’s Grandest Christmas Show. The Guest Artist Concert Series also brings in top touring acts once a week like Jay Leno, Three Dog Night, Josh Turner, Wynonna Judd, Temptations & Four Tops and many more. The theater was recently nominated for the Country Music Association’s Venue of the Year award.

Planning for each year’s shows begins many months prior to the grand opening before a live audience. Creative direction is set first with the goal of making the new year’s show fresh and exciting for returning patrons by introducing new songs, scenic elements, costumes and performers. Next, writers, choreographers, music directors and technical experts develop the new show and prepare for rehearsals and scenic implementation. Extensive rehearsals follow involving the singers, dancers and band learning the new show under the direction of the production team. Even the technical crew is integral to the rehearsal process since they must perfect the flow of the show backstage. The Alabama Theatre shows remain on the cutting edge of entertainment technology by adding new scenic, video and sound elements to the 2018 shows.

The Alabama Theatre is proud to have been voted the Best Live Entertainment Theater in Myrtle Beach by both visitors and locals numerous times. The theater works very hard to make sure both our signature shows, ONE The Show and The South’s Grandest Christmas Show, are special entertainment experiences for all our visitors.
