More About Regenerating Bioregions: Co-Designing Our Future Together

Moderated by the Intergenerational School's founder Dr. Peter Whitehouse, and presented in partnership with Case Western Reserve University, The Legacy Project, and Shigeo & Megumi Takayama Foundation, meet and interact with Joe Brewer & Penny Heiple (Bioregional Activators Network, Barichara River Watershed in Colombia, South America) as part of a panel discussion on how to leverage our natural resources right here on Lake Erie. Cleveland is the next stop on their two-week journey through the largest freshwater basin on the planet - our beloved Great Lakes.
Using the regenerative lens of bioregionalism, the discussion aims to co-create visions of Northeast Ohio’s future. Thought leaders in environmental sustainability will guide guests through conversations on how we can steward our natural resources for generations to come.
Leading the discussion will be:
Peter Whitehouse (Moderator) - Founder of the Intergenerational Schools, Physician, and EthicistDavid Beach - Writer and Environmental ActivistDavid Orr - Paul Sears Distinguished Professor of Environmental Studies and Politics Emeritus at Oberlin CollegeKim Foreman - Chief Executive Officer, Environmental Health Watch
This discussion aligns with the Intergenerational Schools' commitment to spirited citizenship through environmental advocacy. Through Intergenerational Programs, such as interviewing the Doan Brooke "Freeway Fighters", students have been inspired to take action in their communities. Even today, students learn the value of caring for nature through gardening with older adults.
In this spirit, students from the Intergenerational Schools' Near West school will have an opportunity to meet Joe and Penny during their tour and later participate in the conversation. We're hoping you will join them in representing our network of schools!
