More About Barry Kosmin Speaks Sep 16 On Secularism: Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

Barry Kosmin, the foremost demographer of American attitudes and beliefs about religion, will be speaking on “Secularism: Two Steps Forward, One Step Back” at an open program of the Humanists and Freethinkers of Fairfield County (HFFC) on Monday evening, September 16.

Hot off receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at this summer's 2019 American Humanist Association conference, Dr. Barry Kosmin is coming to speak about trends in American secularism and religion today.
The research he has led has shown a decline in belief in organized religions, which leads to the following questions which he will address:

What does this mean for religious and secular organizations?

What’s likely to happen next?

What are the implications?

Dr. Kosmin’s credentials are extensive. He is Research Professor in Public Policy & Law and Founding Director of the Institute for the Study of Secularism in Society and Culture (ISSSC) at Trinity College, Hartford, CT; Principal Investigator since 1990 of the American Religious Identification Survey (ARIS) series as well as national surveys in Europe, Africa and Asia; an author and editor; and Board Director for the Center for Inquiry.

Can the secular community engage with the increasing numbers of non-believers and introduce them to humanism and humanist values? Come and engage.

The meeting, Monday September 16 (6 pm social hour; 7 pm program), at the Silver Star Diner in Norwalk, is free and open to all. RSVP is recommended by email to hffc@optimum.net (subject: Kosmin) or at click for details
