More About Exploring the Golden Light: A Sunset Artist's Talk at Calf Pasture Beach

Join photographer Jennifer James for a sunset artist's talk at Calf Pasture Beach, hosted by the Norwalk Arts Commission through the Mayor's Gallery, as part of the current City Hall exhibition, "Wish You Were Here, Vintage & Contemporary Views of Norwalk."

At Calf Pasture Beach, Ms. James will discuss her love of the golden light that emerges at sunset. She will discuss her creative methods and philosophy of photography and will share examples of her work. Participants will be invited to use their smart phone cameras in a short photography exercise to explore ambient light at the beach. The talk will include a short walk on the grounds to identify and photograph lighting conditions.

Meet at Ripka's Beach Cafe at 6:30 PM. The artist's talk is a free community event. Come for a cocktail before or after, or have an early dinner at Ripka's. Together we'll enjoy the beautiful light at sunset, and explore creative possibilities for photography at the beach.

Parking is free for those who hold Norwalk Resident Beach passes. Non-residents are welcome to join the talk, but will need to pay a one-time parking entry fee of $10 after 5 p.m. Park in the main parking lot near Ripka's.

All are welcome to attend. Rain date is Thursday, June 21

Jennifer James discovered her love of photography after taking a basic introductory course at Norwalk Community College while on a sabbatical from her high school teaching. Since retiring from teaching, she has exhibited in several juried shows in CT, had two one-woman shows, participated in the Little Italy Art Show in the Bronx, and is available for both freelance and community volunteer photography assignments. Her passion for travel has made it possible for her to capture beautiful images, especially of bright Caribbean colors, warm evening light, and reflections. She now loves to take her camera with her on bike rides or on walks in Norwalk to capture the ever-changing local scenery. Her website is click for details.
