More About SOLVE IT for Earth Day, presented by Portland General Electric

SAVE THE DATE!

On Saturday, April 21, 2018 thousands of volunteers will come together to care for Oregon during our states largest Earth Day event, SOLVE IT for Earth Day, presented by Portland General Electric.

Across the state, Oregon’s coast and natural areas continue to face threats from diminishing wildlife habitat, invasive plants, and litter, which flows downstream to rivers and out to the ocean. By volunteering you’re helping to preserve and improve our state for today and for tomorrow.

Join us in the effort to take care of our home by volunteering at a local project, or make the event into an adventure by exploring our state while making a difference. With over 100 projects set to happen across Oregon there is no shortage of ways to get involved!

SOLVE projects are community driven and focus on cleaning up and restoring natural areas and neighborhoods with hands-on work. Supplies and instructions are provided and all ages and abilities are encouraged to join in!

VOLUNTEER

More About this Event Poster: SOLVE

Our Mission Is Simple.
Bring Oregonians together to improve our environment and build a legacy of stewardship.

SOLVE is a non-profit organization that brings together individuals, business groups, and service and conservation groups through volunteering and education to restore our natural spaces and take good care of this great state of which we are all so proud. SOLVE facilitates Oregonians of all kinds coming together to volunteer, focusing on beach and illegal dump cleanup, planting native trees, removing invasive plants, and other environmental maintenance projects. SOLVE annually creates an average of 40,000 volunteer opportunities in 170 communities all across this diverse state.

But SOLVE has been around, and doing good, for a lot longer ago than that. The organization originally called S.O.L.V. (Stop Oregon Litter and Vandalism) was created by Governor Tom McCall and other community leaders in 1969 to address the need for community action in the ever-growing state.

Today SOLVE is working to build on that original vision with a strategic plan for today's problems (and tomorrow's too, for that matter).
