About Mayfield Township Historical Society

The Society was formed in 1976 to promote an interest in history, preserve artifacts, documents and other materials pertaining to the original Mayfield Township which included Gates Mills, Highland Heights, Mayfield Heights, Mayfield Village and the Eastern portion of Lyndhurst. We have an 1847 13 room historical house with each room decorated with period pieces that were donated.
We have monthly meetings with interesting speakers, fundraisers which include an ice cream social in September, a gift card raffle in November, and a quilt raffle in May. Our volunteers enjoy working as docents to give house tours to visitors and when the third grade students visit in the spring (training is available). house and yard projects and maintenance, as librarians doing research for inquiries from people needing answers to questions about people, events, deaths in the township, inventory and curating the artifacts, working at our events, serving as officers, or joining the Mayfield Quilters group which meet every Monday at the house from 10-2 to work on quilting projects. Come to learn how to quilt. Like our Facebook page at The Mayfield Township Historic Society.
