Great news! Out of concern for school-age children in Northwest Indiana that rely on school for their breakfast & lunch, many of the local schools and churches have arranged for kids to get a FREE Breakfast & Lunch.

Breakfasts and lunches can be picked up on the following Mondays. Thanks to thoughtful planning of local churches and schools in Gary, five days’ worth of meals will be available for pickup for residents 18 and under, at the following locations and times:

Lake Ridge New Tech School Corporation
In order to continue to provide food service, we have identified two school locations for food distribution. HEAD START CHILDREN: All Lake Ridge Head Start will be able to pick up at the Administration Head Start Building from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. All persons will remain in vehicles; enter the parking area located at Colfax and Ridge. Cafeteria workers will deliver the food packages to your vehicle. Follow the driving and parking restrictions. ALL OTHER LAKE RIDGE STUDENTS: All Lake Ridge will be able to pick up at Calumet High School from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. All persons will remain in vehicles; enter the parking area from Calhoun and proceed in a single file line up to Door D. Cafeteria workers will deliver the food packages to your vehicle. Follow the driving and parking restrictions.
PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD’S STUDENT ID NUMBER. Food pick up will be available on the following dates:

• Wednesday March 18th a food package will be available that will contain enough food for your child for 3 days.
• Wednesday March 25th a food package will be available that will contain enough food for your child for 3 days.
• Tuesday March 31st a food package will be available that will contain enough food for your child for 4 days.
• For the fourth week, food distribution is to be determined

GRIFFITH

Griffith Public Schools will be serving grab and go meals to children 18 years of age and younger Monday through Friday from 11:30am to 12:30pm beginning again on March 27th. Due to the overwhelming responses and appreciation for the grab and go lunches, we have had to restock. Our new shipment won't arrive in time to begin next Monday. We apologize for this inconvenience. Please make sure to spread the word for us! Grab and go meals will consist of a sandwich, fruit, vegetable and milk. Meals will be served on a drive-up basis at door C at Griffith Middle/High School. Individuals will be required to drive up to door C at Griffith Middle/High School, and the meal will be brought to your car.


Griffith First Christian Church wants to help families in need at this time of unprecedented crisis. We know that the schools being closed for the next 20 school days will place a burden on some members of our community. We want to help everyone we can during this time. We will be providing sack lunches daily. Below are the guidelines/information.

- Pick up time will be 11:30 am - 12:30 pm each day until supplies run out. Please be mindful of the traffic around the church building.
- Food prep time will be from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm each day. Volunteers 18
and over and in good health needed.
Supplies Needed:
- White Bread
- Creamy Peanut Butter & Grape Jelly
- American Cheese Slices
- Juice Boxes
- Fruit Snacks
- Granola Bars
- Cuties/Halos (Mandarin Oranges)
- Yogurt Tubes
- Monetary Donations
Food and monetary donations can be dropped off at Griffith First Christian Church (GFCC) between the hours of 9:00 and 3:00 Monday through Friday. GFCC is located at 202 W Pine St in Griffith. Call the church office at 219-924-6840 if you want to make a donation of any kind. Go to the church building between 9:00 am and 12:30 pm to make a donation or to the church office between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm to donate. The office is located on the east side of the GFCC parking lot. Please email the church office at office@gfcc.net with questions you may have.
- Donations can also be made at gfcc.net/give. Set up an account.
Choose one time gift and use the fund “Hope Chest Special Offering.”
- Following the lead of the School City of Hammond, children 18 years and younger must be present to receive a sack lunch.

Hammond schools will be providing meals during spring break (3/23-3/27) at six sites across the School City of Hammond from 11:30am – 12:30pm Monday through Friday at the main door of each school building listed below:

HANOVER TOWNSHIP

The Hanover food service department has food available for our students that we would like to distribute during this time.
Sack lunches will be distributed on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, or until supplies last, at Hanover Central High School at Door E. It will be drive-up service.
Sack lunches can only be provided to students that are in the car, per USDA guidelines. Some items are perishable and should be refrigerated within 30-60 minutes of receipt.
More information will be forthcoming in relation to other locations in which food will be available within the community.

There will be an area for a Drive-up and a Walk-up. Traffic cones will be in place to guide you to our cafeteria staff. Due to social distancing and to limit the amount of person to person interaction, please pick up meals and safely exit the parking lot and/or the sidewalk. Meals are not to be consumed at the school.

Duneland School Corporation Child Nutrition Services will be offering grab and go meals Monday through Friday through April 10th. Grab and go meals will consist of a Sack Lunch containing a sandwich, veggie, fruit and juice for lunch and a small breakfast item for the following day. Sack meals will be handed out at CHESTERTON MIDDLE SCHOOL from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Pick up procedure will be as follows: Vehicles will enter the CMS Parking area from Porter Avenue and follow the drive to door #17. Vehicles will line up and Patrons will remain in their cars. Sack meals will be brought to the vehicle by a Child Nutrition Staff member. Vehicles will then drive straight and exit onto 8th Street.

VCS School Nutrition will be providing families with an opportunity to obtain two free grab-and-go meals per child daily for children ages 18 and under. These meals will be available at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, Monday through Friday, from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm starting March 17, 2020 through April 10, 2020.

Meal Pick Up Procedure:
