Breakfast Wars Competition

More About Breakfast Wars Competition

Indiana Dunes Tourism, in partnership with the Northern Indiana Tourism Development Commission (NITDC), is proud to announce the kickoff of the 2018 Breakfast Wars! The ten best breakfast restaurants in Porter County will square off against each other in a voting contest to decide who serves the best breakfast in Indiana Dunes Country and all of Indiana’s Cool North.

The nomination round for Breakfast Wars runs Tuesday evening, Feb. 6 to Monday, Feb. 12 and is hosted on Indiana Dunes Tourism’s Facebook page. Voters are encouraged to comment on the Breakfast Wars pinned post to nominate their favorite hometown eatery. Only locally owned restaurants unique to the region will qualify to compete, so be sure to nominate your favorite local hot spot today!

The county round will be Thursday, March 1 to Monday, March 12, and Indiana Dunes Tourism will announce the county round winner after the voting ends. The Best Porter County Breakfast will then move on to the regional competition against other nearby county winners to vie for Best Breakfast in Indiana’s Cool North. The regional round starts Friday, March 16 and will finish on Monday, March 26.

Breakfast Wars is just the latest in these popular, tourism-sponsored food war competitions developed to showcase dining in a fun, creative way throughout the region. With 200,000 votes cast in previous years throughout the competitions, Porter County champions include Octave Grill and Franklin House (wildcard) for Burger Wars, Duneland Pizza for Pizza Wars and last year’s Woodfire Meat Market and Deli for Taco Wars. Who will be your next champion? You decide!

Indiana’s Cool North Breakfast Wars is a joint initiative of the Northern Indiana Tourism Development Commission (NITDC) and its member convention and visitors bureaus in Porter, LaPorte, St. Joseph, Marshall, Kosciusko, Elkhart and LaGrange counties. NITDC is the leading regional economic development authority focusing on sustainable tourism through effective partnerships, including the development of Indiana’s Cool North Campaign. Indiana Dunes Tourism is the official destination marketing organization for Indiana Dunes Country (Porter County, IN).
