More About LaPorte County Parks Are Open

LaPorte County Parks offer a lot of recreational opportunities. Part of the Departments mission is to protect, preserve, and manage recreational resources, while still doing the same for natural and cultural resources.

Are parks open during the coronavirus pandemic?
Yes! We are committed to keeping parks and trails open from 7 AM to sunset.

Is it safe to visit the parks with everything going on?
Yes! According to Dr. Anthony Fauci the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), outdoor exercise is not only safe, it is healthy! You should still practice social distancing and not gather as a group, but hikes and walks are a great way to weather this.

Are playgrounds open?
No. Playgrounds have been closed by the Governor's Stay-At-Home Order until further notice.

Are programs cancelled?
Until further notice public programs have been cancelled. We will continue to evaluate when and how we are able to resume programs.
