More About Medina Half Marathon
Named the 40th most desirable city to live in by CNN Money in 2009, Medina also plays host to the Medina Half Marathon & 5K, which takes place in late May each year.
Beginning in Medina Square, the half marathon takes runners north of downtown Medina through tree-lined neighborhoods for the first three miles. Mile 3 marks the right turn onto East Reagan Parkway, leading runners past Reagan and Huffman Parks toward Lake Medina. This section of the course is run along the lake with gorgeous water views.
After leaving the lake and heading back on the road again toward the halfway point, the second half of the course begins. This half of the course is almost all uphill and weaves its way through residential neighborhoods before crossing the finish line at Medina Square.
Walkers are welcome on the course in the competitive walking division; however, runners must finish the course in 3 hours, 20 minutes. Race organizers note that Medina is not a flat area, and the second half of the course is a steady incline.
Race Weather & Climate
Located in northern Ohio about 30 miles south of Cleveland, Medina typically experiences mild weather in May with cool mornings. With a May average of almost 3.7″ of rain for the month, dressing for the elements is advisable.
On race day (May 27), the average low is 51ºF and the average high is 73ºF.
Register for 2023 Medina Half Marathon and 5K
The event starts and finishes on the Historic Medina Square, Public Square, Medina, OH 44256 on May 27 at 6:45 AM. The course runs through our beautiful city, around the crushed gravel trail of Lake Medina, through scenic neighborhoods and then runners head back up to the square. This race is being held by the Medina County Road Runners. Our title sponsor is Summa Health. All funds are given back to local charities. Donations can also be given under this link fundraiser section, donations can also be made through the registration process. We are supporting the Mary Grace Foundation, Collins Cares, and the Medina County Road Runners Memorial Scholarship Fund. We will also have all water stops supported by local non-profits that will each receive a small donation.
Our packet pick-up is the day before the event, May 26, 2023. Please stop by and pick up your race bib and shirt. Our expo will take place between 3:30-7:30 PM at Summa Health Medina Medical Center 3780 Medina Rd, Medina, OH 44256. You may have your bib picked up by a friend. We do not have a day of race pick-up.
