Susquehanna Chorale Youth Choral Festival

Susquehanna Chorale Youth Choral Festival

More About Susquehanna Chorale Youth Choral Festival

The Susquehanna Chorale will present its annual Youth Choral Festival. This inspiring intergenerational event features performances by the nearly 200 voices of the Susquehanna Children’s, Youth, and Young Women’s Chorales, and the Susquehanna Chorale.

At the concert, the adult Chorale will premier Worry Not, My Love, a work commissioned to honor the life of an Alzheimer’s patient and to spread awareness of this debilitating disease. The piece will be featured in a documentary for Johns Hopkins Hospital.

The concert also will include selections from the traditional choral repertoire, art songs, and folk songs from around the world. The concert concludes with a special performance by the combined choirs of Mack Wilberg’s Anthem of Peace, conducted by Ms. Tedford.

The Susquehanna Chorale is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the formation of the educational choirs. The choirs are an integral part of its mission. Students are chosen by audition. They are taught sight-singing, vocal technique, and expressivity through a challenging repertoire representing a variety of musical eras and styles. Students representing 52 area school districts as well as home-schooled children are involved.
