Fake News, Leaks and Bias: Freedom of the Press Under the First

Fake News, Leaks and Bias: Freedom of the Press Under the First

More About Fake News, Leaks and Bias: Freedom of the Press Under the First

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution boldly limits governmental interference with certain “enumerated” rights. OLLI presenters, Dan Crean and Barbara Keshen, will look at the rights of the press in today’s legal and highly charged political landscape.

From leaks, to “fake” news, op/ed pages, and claims of biased reporting, the press, the public and politicians seem to have reverted to conflict similar to that existing in the early days of the republic.

This interactive discussion will review significant court decisions from past cases and discuss how the amendment may be applied in these “heated” times.
