More About Coffeehouse at The Wheelers’: As Time Goes By with Suzanne Sheridan

Coffeehouse at the Wheelers’, the very popular and ongoing musical series now in its fifth year at WHS is doing something a bit curious on Friday, March 23, from 6 to 8 pm, when performer and musical director Suzanne Sheridan will perform music of the World War II era to reflect the Society’s current exhibit The Curious Case of Ed Vebell.

The exhibit which runs until April 16, recounts the remarkable life and times of Westporter Ed Vebell, an internationally renowned illustrator who got his start during the war on US Army’s military newspaper, Stars and Stripes, as a field illustrator. It was the beginning of Vebell’s decades-long journey through odd, extraordinary and potentially lethal experiences including years overseas in exotic places like Morocco and the cabarets of Paris. Mr. Vebell passed away February 10, 2018.

Together with Greg Detroy on keyboards, Sheridan will be performing the classic tunes of the 1940s. The concert, “As Time Goes By,” will cover the songs from that period such as “I’ll Be Seeing You,” “As Time Goes By,” and many others from the songbook of that era.

Greg Detroy is well known to audiences in the Fairfield County area as the leader of the Men’s Community Gospel Choir of Norwalk and has performed on piano in numerous venues with the likes of Bob Stewart and Bob Riccio. Over the past five years, Sheridan has presented coffeehouse concerts that have included the music of Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Pete Seeger, James Taylor, Carole King, Carly Simon and Bob Dylan among others.

Tickets are priced at $20 and include light refreshments. To reserve your tickets, call 203-222-1424 or reserve online at click for details.
