The ‘FIRE IN THE PINES’ FESTIVAL is a family friendly, environmental education festival organized by The Nature Conservancy, the North Carolina Forest Service, and the City of Wilmington Parks & Recreation Dept. Our intention is to create a fun-filled day in the park for families to learn about the importance of controlled fire to the native plants, animals, and ecosystems of our region.

The ‘FIRE IN THE PINES’ FESTIVAL takes place on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2018 from 10am-3pm (RAIN DATE of SATURDAY. OCTOBER 27) at HALYBURTON PARK, 4099 S. 17th Street, Wilmington, NC. Park at 3147 S. 17th Street, corner of Independence and S. 17th streets, and take the
FREE FESTIVAL TROLLEY to the Park. FREE ADMISSION … (Except for food from Food Trucks)!

•NC Forest Service Firefighting Equipment & Fire Personnel
•Live music with Da Howlies Band! Juggling with Bash’s ‘Gypsy Jugglers’!
•Live Birds of Prey, Reptiles, Snakes , Carnivorous Plants exhibits
•Hay rides, Scavenger Hunts, Raffle Prizes
•Hands-on activities with over 40 environmental and youth organizations
•Colorful Arts & Crafts, Games, Face painting
•Variety of Food trucks, with diversity of delicious menu items
•GRAND FINALE - CONTROLLED BURN by the NC Forest Service (weather permitting)
