More About Fusion Fitness

My name is Rich Gurnick, and I started CrossFit in 2012 after my shoulder surgery the year prior. I was sitting in a sports bar eating lunch, and they had ESPN on the TV. It was some sort of weightlifting competition that I had not seen before. I continued to watch and loved it! It was the CrossFit Games final day. Competitors were lifting weight and doing it quickly and efficiently while the crowd cheered them on to win the event. At that moment, I found my why. I wanted to be able to move as they did or at least move more efficiently. I studied it more and eventually signed up at a local box. They had me do some stretching, and there was a strength portion involved, which I do not remember what it was, but I do remember the metcon. It was Grace. 30 barbells, ground to overhead. I finished just under 5 minutes. From that day, I have never looked back. Every day was different and kept me engaged with the coach’s teachings. I knew I did not want to go back to the same old workout routine at the local gym. Waiting on equipment and sticking to the 4 sets of 10 reps on the same exercises week in and week out. It was the way of the true plateau. As I continued my journey my stamina and strength increased. It got better and better month after month. I became the 5-6 day a week CrossFitter. After a few years, I got more curious as to the Coaching aspect and decided to take the CrossFit L1 coaching class. Again, loved it! It taught me more about the sport and the proper form to gain more efficiency of movement. I then started to see how others were moving, whether good, bad or just ok. another year later I took the CrossFit L2 coaching class and gained even more knowledge. I continued the path of studies and took as many online courses as well, knowing that I wanted other people to move better in this sport and their daily lives. While CrossFit is a great avenue for some, I wanted all people to come to this gym, so I created a fitness side to it as well. Inputting HIIT or Circuit classes with the teaching of functional movement. This would allow anyone to go from Fitness classes to CrossFit because the foundation of the movements was still being taught. We create programming that can be scaled to anyone’s ability, so you get the workout you wanted to achieve your goals. These programs were made for anyone at any time. We want you to succeed. Your journey is our priority. We want you to become part of the community.

We only ask that you come prepared to change your life for the better.

My “Why?” has changed a little over time but now instead of just helping myself, I want to Infuse a Healthier way of life for everyone that comes through the door. Come discuss your goals and get started!
