  • HSCA's Geranium Sale | All Day | Charity, Fundraiser
    HSCA's Geranium Sale - Humane Society Calumet Area (HSCA) is now accepting pre-orders of geranium pots and hanging baskets, which will arrive just in time for Mother's Day and planting season! Each 4-1/2-inch pot costs $5 and 10-inch hanging baskets are available for $20 each. The baskets feature vines in addition to geraniums. Colors available include white splash, red, dark pink, and salmon. Orders and payment are due May 1.


    Pick-up is available May 8 through 9 at Paws Resale Shoppe, 8149 Kennedy Ave., Highland, Ind. and May 9 at Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (MRWRC), 570 N. 450 E., Valparaiso, Ind.

    Chicago Double Running Festival - The Double Road Race is a two stage race with a halftime in-between. Created by Runner's World Magazine, Bob Anderson, this race is a fun and unique experience for runners of all ages...even the kids!!

    The halftime is called the Recovery Zone, and this is where runners can stretch, listed to live music, talk with healthcare professionals, and even get a massage!

    Three races available:

    15k (10k + 5k)

    8k (5k + 3k)

    Kids Cup Challenge (1mi + .5mi)

    Winter Book Sale - Join Humane Society Calumet Area for its annual winter book sale from Jan. 14-17. For a $5 donation, shoppers can attend the sneak preview of the sale on Jan. 14 from 10 a.m to noon, plus don't miss the bag sale on Saturday where shoppers can fill a paper bag with books, CDs, and DVDs for just $5!

    Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday-Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

    Donations of gently used adult and youth books, CDs and DVDs are appreciated and can be delivered to Paws Resale Shoppe. Proceeds benefit the animals of HSCA.
