    - The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo-Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible.

    - Let the Chorale sing you to Heaven in its spring concert, titled “Sing Me to Heaven” after Daniel Gawthrop’s beloved and moving piece by that name.

The theme is enlarged through an eclectic repertoire that looks at stars and ideas of heaven from a variety of perspectives and musical styles:

    • Erik Esenwald’s Stars creates the majesty of a “heaven full of stars”

    • Alic Parker and Mack Wilberg present traditional views of the heavenly afterlife in such classics such as Hark I Hear the Harps Eternal and Bound for the Promised Land

    • Bob Chilcott’s Chautauqua Requiem, based on Mary Anne Morefield’s poem Requiem, affirms life and being in an alternative approach to the end of life on earth

    • Daniel Elder’s Twinkle Twinkle Little Star elevates this simple children’s song about wonder to new heights

WORLD PREMIER! The Chorale commissioned and will perform the world premiere of Chautauqua Requiem, a setting by Bob Chilcott of Harrisburg-Area Poet Mary Anne Morefield’s poem Requiem.

    - STREET CORNER SYMPHONY at the Carlisle Theatre.

    May 7 - 7:30 pm

Street Corner Symphony is an acappella group based out of Nashville,
Tennessee, founded on 28 May 2010 to compete in NBC's all-vocal competition,
The Sing-Off. They became internationally known in 2010 when they became
runners-up on the show's second season. These southern gents quickly won over
Sing-Off judges Ben Folds (Ben Folds Five), Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men), and
Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls), and--most importantly--millions of NBC
primetime viewers after demonstrating their unique, laid-back-yet-dynamic style
of a cappella. Since their success on The Sing-Off, Street Corner Symphony has
made their mark on the music world, recording albums, providing clinics for
schools, giving benefits for cancer, performing across the country and around
    the world.
