  • Boston Sea Rovers: Eco-Animals Art Exhibit | 9:00am - 4:00pm | Arts and Entertainment, art, marine, underwater, ocean, animals, Boston,
Boston Sea Rovers: Eco-Animals Art Exhibit - This Boston Sea Rovers showcases a new art exhibit that traces the life of a flip-flop from ocean trash to amazing creations such as elephants, lions and giraffes.

Each year, thousands and thousands of flip-flops are washed up onto the East African coast creating an environmental disaster. This inexpensive footwear spoils the natural beauty of the beaches and oceans, but more insidiously, the rubber pieces are often swallowed by fish and other animals, causing suffocation. Flip-flops can also obstruct turtle hatchlings from reaching the sea and are a man-made menace to an already fragile ecosystem.

Teams of locals help to collect the flip-flops from the beaches, while the creative team of artisans at Ocean Sole transform the discarded flip-flops into elephants, giraffes, lions, rhinos, dolphins, sharks, turtles and more. These colorful masterpieces come with an important message about marine conservation while bringing smiles to people all over the world.

We hope this exhibit serves to inspire the public and to encourage everyone to help reduce marine debris wherever possible.

Special thanks to the Oceanic Society, a proud partner of Ocean Sole, for helping to organize this exhibit.

Art Exhibit and Exhibit Hall are free. Tickets are required for Daytime Presentations and Saturday Evening Film Festival.
