Ride for the Red: Steel Towns Trail Ride | 7:30am - 5:00pm | Sports and Recreation, Bicylcing Ride, Fundraising Event, Fun, Adventure- Join us for a fun, bicycling event in support of and assisted by the American Red Cross.
- Choose a starting location: West Newton Trailhead OR Pittsburgh's South Side Works.
- Cycle as much or as little as they choose. (One mile, ten miles or up to 32 miles one-way and 64 miles round-trip.)

Registration Fee Information
- $25 registration fee by June 1, 2016
- $35 registration fee between June 2 and August 1, 2016 (T-Shirt Deadline)
- $45 registration fee between August 2 and September 30, 2016.
Registered Riders are encouraged to raise $200 and more in support of the Red Cross, in addition to their initial registration fee.
Free Parking is available at both starting locations:

- Pittsburgh's South Side Works, 2705 S. Water Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203
Registration is from 7:30 to 9:00 am at both starting locations. Riders can sign-in, and start riding at their own pace on the day of the event. (Riders who choose to cycle the entire round trip distance of 64-miles are encouraged to register as early as possible.)

Babe Ruth Calls His Shot?: Anniversary | NATL - MLB- October 1, 1932 in the fifth inning of game three of the 1932 World Series, with a count of two balls and two strikes, Babe Ruth pointed to the center field bleachers in Chicago's Wrigley Field and followed up by hitting a soaring home run high above the very spot to which he had just gestured. Did he really call his shot? Some Disagree, some eyewitnesses and Cubs pitcher Charlie Root believe he did not. Even Babe Ruth's Daughter said that he denied it, but Babe himself also claimed he did it.

Herbert Birch Kingston, a philanthropist and candy company employee wanted to bring happiness into the lives of the sick, orphans, shut-ins and others who were forgotten by distributing candy to them. Thus, Sweetest Day was born. Today is the day to do something nice for someone that will make him or her say, "Oh, that's so sweet!" Annually, the third Saturday in October.
