More About National Coast Guard Day

U.S. Coast Guard Day U.S. Coast Guard Day is celebrated annually on August 4th to commemorate Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton's creation of the Revenue Marine on that date in 1790.

The Coast Guard is one of America's five military services. They exist to defend and preserve the United States. They protect the personal safety and security of the American people; the marine transportation system and infrastructure; natural and economic resources; and the territorial integrity of the nation–from both internal and external threats, natural and man-made.
