More About ART EXHIBITION: Art in the Garden

Art in the Garden Exhibition Opens at the Guild on Saturday May 18th!

Ridgefield Guild of Artists is pleased to announce the opening of its fourth exhibition of 2024. Art in the Garden will run from Saturday, May 18 thru Sunday, June 16, with a reception opening day from 4-6pm. It is free and open to the public. “We are very excited to partner with the Ridgefield Garden Club as we present this show,” said Pam Stoddart, Executive Director of the Guild. “Along with loads of member art highlighting gardens in many forms, members of the Garden Club have selected 8 – 10 art pieces and will design unique floral arrangements to complement each choice.”
Floral arrangements will be raffled off at the end of the opening reception and winners will be able to take them home. Tickets can be purchased for $20 for one or $50 for three. All proceeds will benefit Guild programming.
An overwhelming number of Guild members sent in submissions to this show: 142 pieces from 86 artists! It’ll be a blast of spring all over the gallery with colorful paintings, photography, prints, drawings, and sculpture, including a special garden bench…plus beautiful interpretive real flower arrangements from our new Garden Club friends. “It’s a match made in heaven! We can’t wait for it all to come together,” said Mary Pat Devine, President of the Guild. “Anyone who loves spring is going to love this show!”
The Ridgefield Garden Club was organized in 1914. “Their members share the love of plants and gardening, conservation and the protection of all natural resources, native plants and wildlife, and pride in their club and its history in Ridgefield and the desire to contribute to and beautify the Ridgefield community.” For more information about their organization, visit Click for Details.
There’s even more to enjoy at the Guild during this show! We were selected by the Ridgefield Independent Film Festival organizers as a venue for a short film to run for the length of the Art in the Garden exhibition. A Portrait of Consumption created by Gillian Fortin, will be available for viewing on a continuous loop during regular gallery hours from May 18 – June 16 (12-4pm, Wednesday – Sunday).
“Portrait Of Consumption is a story about the human collective socializing alone; each struggling for acceptance on the world stage of social media. (Running time: 8 minutes.) For more information about this short film and all RIFF offerings, visit their website @ Click for Details.
Ridgefield Guild of Artists has served its members and the Ridgefield community for many, many years. In 1974, a small group of local artists wanted a place to meet, talk about art, and show their work. From its humble beginnings, the Guild has grown to over three hundred members, offering an array of opportunities to exhibit with gallery shows and community events, as well as offering classes for artists of all ages and abilities.
The Guild’s antique barn is located at 34 Halpin Lane, at the bottom of the hill just before Ridgefield’s Rail Trail. Regular gallery hours are Wednesday – Sunday, 12-4pm. For more details, along with all Guild offerings including on-going classes, visit Click for Details. RGOA is a tax-exempt 501c3 non-profit arts organization, now celebrating its 50th year!!
