More About PA State Representative, 88th Legislative District

Representative Sheryl M. Delozier is currently serving her fourth, two-year term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on behalf of the residents of the 88th Legislative District in Cumberland County, which includes Lower Allen and Upper Allen townships; Lemoyne, Mechanicsburg, New Cumberland, Shiremanstown and Wormleysburg boroughs.

Sheryl currently serves on the Consumer Affairs, Judiciary, Liquor Control and Labor and Industry committees. She is also a member of the House Ethics Committee.

Prior to her election to the state House in 2008, Sheryl worked in many facets of state government. She worked in the Auditor General’s office before she served on Gov. Tom Ridge’s transition team, and continued as senior staff for the eight years of the Ridge and Schweiker administrations. While in the governor’s office, Sheryl worked to cut the cost of state government by directing the implementation of cost-cutting measures, and streamlining and eliminating duplication in the agencies overseen by the governor.

She completed her tenure in the administration as director of Gov. Mark Schweiker’s Office of Public Liaison, working with more than 700 boards and commissions to which the governor appoints members. In addition, Sheryl also served as an advisor to a commissioner at the PUC, where she focused on water, transportation and consumer issues.

Sheryl is a graduate of West Chester East High School and the University of Delaware where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with an emphasis in domestic government. She continued her education at the Open University of the Netherlands, where she studied international business in European markets, and at the Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a master’s degree in management in business administration.

An active member of her community, Sheryl is a member of the Mechanicsburg and West Shore Chamber of Commerce, the Republican Women in Government council, the Mechanicsburg Rotary, the Civic Club of Harrisburg, New Cumberland and Camp Hill Republican Women and the New Cumberland Woman’s Club. She is an honorary member of the New Birth of Freedom Council, Boy Scouts of America; is a member of Messiah College President’s Leadership Council; and serves on the Board of Trustees of Bethany Towers. Sheryl also serves a board member of Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland and Perry Counties. She was recently appointed to serve on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), the nonprofit student aid organization.

Sheryl has been a longtime volunteer for the Area M Special Olympics, as well as the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg where she works on behalf of victims of domestic violence and rape. She attends St. Stephen Episcopal Cathedral, where she teaches Junior Achievement to the second grade at St. Stephens Cathedral School.
