More About Centre Stage Community Theatre Presents Perfect Arrangement
Centre Stage Community Theatre is proud to present Perfect Arrangement by
acclaimed playwright Topher Payne, June 26–28, 2026, in Mandeville Hall at the Clemens Center.
Set in 1950 at the height of the Red Scare, Perfect Arrangement follows two U.S. State Department
employees, Bob and Norma, who have been tasked with identifying so-called "sexual deviants"
within their ranks. There is just one problem: both Bob and Norma are gay and have married each
other's partners as part of a carefully constructed cover. As government scrutiny intensifies, their
carefully curated lives begin to unravel.
Inspired by the true story of the earliest stirrings of the American gay rights movement, Perfect
Arrangement blends classic sitcom-style comedy with powerful drama. What begins as a fast-paced
comedy gradually reveals the human cost of living in secrecy during the Lavender Scare, a period
when thousands of LGBTQ+ federal employees lost their jobs because of their sexual orientation.
Presented in celebration of Pride Month, the production reflects Centre Stage Community Theatre's
commitment to creating inclusive theatrical experiences and fostering a sense of belonging for all
members of the community.
Performances will take place Friday, June 26, Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28 in Mandeville
Hall at the Clemens Center. Seating is limited.
Tickets are available now through the Clemens Center Box Office and online at ClemensCenter.org.
