More About Beckman's Greene Street Pharmacy, Inc.

Beckman’s Greene Street Pharmacy opened in 1982 by John and Kathleen Beckman whose vision was to operate a neighborhood pharmacy in their hometown that would “Dispense information as well as medication.” With that vision in mind they started their dream at 758 Greene Street (the original site of the Dingle Drug Store dating to the early 1900′s) After 20 years a demand for more space necessitated a move down the street to their present location at 686 Greene Street, which they are sharing with the Classic Car Wash and Pyzano’s Pizza.

The pharmacy today offers many new services. They have a 24 hour prescription drop box and free delivery service (for most of the local area), full over the counter selection of vitamins, health and beauty needs and Bert’s Bees products. The pharmacy today offers an expanded giftware section. You can find Swan Creek candles, Willow Tree collectibles, Ty babies, and Seasonal and Holiday gifts. If you are looking for a birthday, anniversary or just an every day ‘Thank You’ gift, it can be found in their giftware sections along with a wide assortment of greeting cards for only $.99 everyday. Beckman’s also accepts credit cards, debit cards, and most prescription/medical plans.

In keeping with their vision of operation a neighborhood pharmacy, John and Kathy decided to begin selling Durable Medical Equipment. The process began in May of 2010, the Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC International) informed John and his staff that the pharmacy was fully accredited to sell and supply DME (Durable Medical Equipment). To receive this award, pharmacies must meet stringent standard which are regulated by the Social Security Act and federal regulations for DME. This decision was based on Beckman’s application to the BOC board, the onsite survey that was conducted and subsequent followup work. This accreditation gave the pharmacy the ability to serve Medicare Part B beneficiaries and other customers throughout the area with walkers, diabetic shoes, nebulizers and other medical needs.

By hiring and maintaining the highest quality staff, John and Kathy are able to keep their vision alive and growing by always reminding their staff, “We dispense information as well as medication.”
