Supertri Chicago Wraps Record-breaking Race Weekend, With Entries For 2027 Now Open

Supertri Chicago, formerly known as the Chicago Triathlon, wrapped its latest race weekend with a record-breaking field of more than 9,000 athletes, marking the largest field in event history and reinforcing the event’s position as North America’s largest triathlon. Registration for the 2027 Supertri Chicago triathlon is already open, giving athletes the opportunity to secure their place in next year’s race.

Taking place along Chicago’s iconic lakefront, the weekend featured multiple race formats and welcomed athletes from all 50 states and 32 countries. The event also drew strong local participation, with more than 6,900 Illinois athletes representing 79% of participants. Athletes ranged in age from 7 to 89 years old throughout the two days.

The weekend began Saturday with the Kids Tri, giving young athletes the opportunity to experience the excitement of triathlon in a fun and welcoming environment. The Supersprint Race followed, offering first-time competitors and those looking for a shorter challenge an accessible entry point into the sport. Sunday featured the marquee Sprint, Olympic and Relay races, sending thousands of athletes through downtown Chicago and along the lakefront. Together, the weekend’s races created an inclusive race environment for everyone from first-time triathletes to seasoned competitors alike.

Beyond the competition, Supertri Chicago continued its commitment to giving back through its Supertri Corporate Challenge, which raised over $122,000 for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago to support pediatric cancer and blood disorder research.
