As the wind chills and temperatures drop below freezing, we'd like to remind everyone that there will be temporary, emergency warming centers available for residents in need of a place to warm up during severe cold weather temperatures and power outages. ๐งกโ๏ธ๐ฅ
Warming Centers offer a place for people to get temporary relief from extreme cold and severe winter weather conditions for a brief time. Availability is dependent on forecasted temperatures and weather conditions.
Warming Centers will only be available during regular hours of operation, unless otherwise noted.

๐โจ From Griffith Police Department: โDuring emergency situations and inclement weather, temporary warming centers will be established at the Griffith Central Fire Station located at 130 N Lafayette St. Residents without access to shelter of a safe temperature or other safe living conditions can seek shelter at the fire station until conditions subside.
If residents are unable to provide their own transportation to the center, they are encouraged to call 219-924-7503.
Residents who wish to utilize the warming center are encouraged to bring blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, and other essentials, as well as snacks, medicines, and other items to hold them over during their time at the center.โ

If residents are unable to provide their own transportation to the center, they are encouraged to call 219-924-7503.
Residents who wish to utilize the warming center are encouraged to bring blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, and other essentials, as well as snacks, medicines, and other items to hold them over during their time at the center.โ
