More About Dr. Mary Tilak & Associates Welcomes Dr. Michael Lane, DNP to their Mental Health Program
We are thrilled to announce the starting of our Mental Health Program within our Primary care practice and are excited to welcome Dr. Michael Lane, DNP to our team.
Dr. Mary Tilak and Associates are dedicated to delivering value-based care in our community. We recognize that mental health is very critical in effectively managing other chronic medical conditions such as Diabetes, Obesity, COPD and CHF and achieving the triple aim of improved patient experience and patient outcomes along with reducing total cost of care.
Michael is an experienced clinical provider with a strong history of working across the extended spectrum of healthcare delivery from Emergency rooms to Acute Mental Health inpatient care and transition to Community-based ambulatory care.
He graduated from RUSH University, Chicago with a Doctor of Nursing Practice specializing as a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Michael is also a proud US Army veteran and continues to service our nations' veterans, active duty military and first responders with a commitment to enhancing their health and happiness.
"My continued passion, dedication, and relentless quest for knowledge has prepared me to dedicate my career to helping a misunderstood, underserved and stigmatized patient population with mental health conditions" says Dr. Lane.
Michael's desire to improve knowledge and access to mental health treatment as well as create and grow multi-disciplinary, team-based patient centered care models drove him to become part of Dr. Mary Tilak and Associates, who have dedicated more than two decades of their time and resources to patient centered and community-based care delivery.

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM MARY TILAK, MD, MBA
Born as the third child, I learned observational skills early. My commitment to value-based healthcare started in my childhood observing my physician mother's relentless efforts in preventing sickness and promoting health in a small town in India.
After my medical education in India and post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois in Chicago, I grabbed on to the first opportunity that came my way, as a young mother and a young physician, to drive a different type of healthcare- one that prevents sickness and promotes health. I chose to pursue my calling here at my home away from home - NorthWest Indiana.
This community enriched my purpose and supported my efforts in driving awareness of preventive healthcare. My team which started as a one-woman army quickly grew to a team that currently includes multiple nurse practitioners, physicians, and ancillary staff with aligned passion and purpose.
I am humbled by the experiences of the last 2 decades and proud of Dr. Mary Tilak and Associates. Dr. Mary Tilak and Associates, now with physicians and nurse practitioners board certified in a diverse group of primary care specialties including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, and Obesity Medicine, is aligned in the singular purpose of creating healthy families and happy communities.
