More About FREE Supplies for Your Classroom or Non-profit at the ReUZ Room! ♻️

The ReUZ Room offers Lake County teachers, scout group leaders, church group leaders, and any other non-profit group the opportunity to gather clean, reusable FREE supplies for arts and crafts projects.

Shoeboxes, buttons, used crayons, paper towel tubes, egg cartons, gift wrap and yarn are just a few of the reusable items accepted as donations and made available to you! Before you leave the ReUZ Room, your bags of reusables are weighed and a record is kept of the pounds of trash diverted from landfills!

They accept donations too!

🚨 Appointments ONLY for drop offs & pick-ups please.

Please do not just drop by as they need to ensure that staff will be available.

Please call (219) 853-2420 and ask for one of their educators to make an appointment.

More About Lake County Solid Waste Management District

The Lake County Solid Waste Management District (LCSWMD) works to protect the environment and reduce waste across Lake County through education, recycling programs, and community services. Established in 1991 by the Indiana State Legislature, the District helps residents, schools, and businesses reduce waste through the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

LCSWMD offers a wide range of programs and services for Lake County residents, including Household Hazardous Waste collection, electronics recycling, tire recycling, appliance drop-off locations, compost distribution, latex paint recycling events, and seasonal leaf collection for unincorporated areas. We also maintain resources to help residents properly recycle or dispose of many other common household materials.

Education is a major part of our mission. Programs include field trips to the Environmental Education Center, classroom visits through the Enviromobile, the Reuse Room for teachers and community groups, and hands-on environmental learning opportunities for students throughout the year.

In addition, we host and participate in community events across Lake County that promote recycling, waste reduction, and environmental awareness.
