More About “An American Town Goes to War” – World War II Author Talk with Tony Pavia

As part of the Weston History & Culture Center’s World War II Lecture Series, author Tony Pavia presents, “An American Town Goes to War,” on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 3:00pm at the Weston History & Culture Center, 104 Weston Road in Weston, CT. Event is FREE but registration is recommended as space is limited. Register at: Click for Details. Walk-ins welcome too.

Every single person in America was touched by the events of World War II. “An American Town Goes to War” is the story of a group of men who went off to war. They are all from one town, Stamford, CT, but their stories are universal. Author Tony Pavia will discuss the commonalities of their experiences, highlight their personal stories as well as stories from those loved ones whom the veterans left behind. Mr. Pavia will describe the behind the scenes of the book, which involved years of oral history interviews with local veterans and their families. When published in 2013, this book was one of the most comprehensive oral histories of its kind, chronicling every major theater, battle and branch of service in the words of those who lived it.

Copies of “An American Town Goes to War” will be available for purchase at the event. The lecture will conclude with a short Q & A and book signing. Guided tours of the Coley House, which represents life on the home front during World War II, will be available after the lecture.

This presentation is part of a World War II Lecture Series organized by the Weston History & Culture Center. The final lecture in the series is: “Connecticut Military Heroes of Pearl Harbor” with author Jeffrey R. DeWitt on Pearl Harbor Day – December 7, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Weston History & Culture Center.
