More About Beginner’s Monument Cleaning Class

(Bad weather contingency date Saturday, May 11, 2024)

Did you know that… The ongoing maintenance of your family cemetery monument is the responsibility of your family? To assist our families, David’s Cemetery is pleased to partner with gravestone restoration expert, Misti Spillman, the owner of Reviving Cemeteries, LLC.

This hands-on workshop is offered on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 10 AM until 3 PM, including a lunch break. Please bring your lunch or visit the nearby restaurants. This workshop will be held outdoors in the cemetery, so dress for the weather. There will first be a demonstration of safe monument cleaning steps, and the recommended detergents and techniques. Bring a folding chair for your comfort for the demonstration. Then, you will select a monument in the proximity of the class session and clean that monument under Misti’s guidance to practice these techniques. You will receive a headstone cleaning starter kit that will include all tools and materials needed for the day.

It may not be possible for you to practice on your own family monument that day since the cemetery covers 54 acres and Misti cannot cover the entire property! However, you will gain the skills and confidence to independently, safely clean your family legacy monuments. Class participation is limited to those aged 18 and over. The class registration fee of $40 is non-refundable but could be transferrable to other family members in the event of illness or scheduling. Class size will be limited to 25 participants.

Contact the office at 937-434-2255 for registration.
