🐊 “Louisiana Folk, Flora, and Fauna” is on view now! 🐊

Artist Lance Vargas, also known as Varg; has been creating fine folk art from salvaged wood and recycled materials since 2007. He began in his backyard shed located in the Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. He found inspiration in the heart pine grains and grooves of the hardwood floor he recently refinished, as well as antique woods, finishes, stains, and paints. He has created more than 10,000 pieces for clients, collectors, businesses and art lovers all over the world.

He has created more than 10,000 pieces for clients, collectors, businesses and art lovers all over the world. He began selling in New Orleans’ famous Jackson Square in 2008 where he called the square home for over seven years of his career. After growing success in Jackson Square, Varg and fellow Jackson Square artist, Jeremy Hebert, opened Deurty Boys Gallery on St. Peter Street in October of 2015. Eventually, they moved to their current location on Chartres Street and Dumaine Street. The gallery has been open since May of 2016 and has “established a sweet sense of community” among other artists and patrons according to Varg.
